Magnetic Dipole
Magnetic Dipole : – Just as two charges of equal magnitude but opposite nature form an electric dipole, in the same way two magnetic poles of equal pole strength (m) located at a certain distance (effective length) form a magnetic dipole.
Examples of magnetic dipole :-
Bar magnet/current carrying loop/current carrying solenoid
Just as a torque acts on an electric dipole when it is placed in an external electric field, in the same way when a bar magnet or a current carrying loop or a current carrying solenoid is placed in an external magnetic field, they all experience a torque. Hence all these are examples of magnetic dipoles.
