Internal Energy | Internal Energy and Heat Energy
Internal Energy | Internal Energy and Heat Energy :- The energy associated with configuration and random motion of atoms & molecules within a body is called internal energy.
Types of Internal Energy
Internal Energy is of two types :-
- Internal Kinetic Energy :- The energy associated with random motion of atoms and molecules of a substance is called internal kinetic energy. It depends on temperature and hence if temperature of a substance remains constant, then internal kinetic energy also remains constant. At absolute zero temperature, internal kinetic energy is zero.
- Internal Potential Energy :- The energy due to intermolecular forces of a substance is called internal potential energy. This energy depends on distance between the molecules and the value of intermolecular force.
Internal Energy and Heat Energy
Heat Energy :- The part of internal energy which is transferred from one body to another body due to temperature difference between them is called heat energy.
