Light of frequency 1.5 times the threshold frequency
Question :- A light of frequency 1.5 times the threshold frequency is incident on photo-sensitive material. If the frequency is halved and intensity is doubled, the photoelectric current becomes
(A) quadrupled
(B) doubled
(C) halved
(D) zero
Solution :- Given that light of frequency 1.5 times the threshold frequency is incident on photo-sensitive material. So photoelectrons are being ejected from the material. But after that frequency is halved (= 1.5v0/2 = 0.75v0) and intensity is doubled. Since frequency is now 0.75v0 < v0 i.e., less than threshold frequency hence ejection of photoelectrons stops. So correct option is (D).
